Israeli drone strike kills police chief and seven others at Jabalia police station in Gaza

On 14 July 2026 an Israeli unmanned aircraft hit a police post in the al‑Faluja area of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Gaza’s Interior Ministry reported eight fatalities, including Colonel Mohammed Marwan Salem, the director of the Jabalia police centre, six other police officers and a civilian woman. Palestinian officials described the attack as a "massacre" against civil‑security personnel.

The same day, additional Israeli strikes elsewhere in Gaza killed at least five civilians, among them a child and a woman, and injured several others. The Palestinian Health Ministry said the overall death toll for the day rose to 13, with casualties also reported in Khan Yunis, Rafah and near the Taiba Towers in Khan Yunis. The attacks occurred despite a cease‑fire that has been in place since 11 October 2025, and come as the conflict that began in October 2023 continues to generate daily civilian and security‑force losses.

Israel has justified the strike by saying the police centre was being used by Hamas for military purposes, while Palestinian authorities maintain that the police force is a civilian body responsible for public order and that the targeting violates international law.
