Israel's Airstrikes Kill 18 in Southern Lebanon

Israeli warplanes and unmanned aerial vehicles intensified attacks on Lebanon’s south despite a cease‑fire that began on 17 April and was later extended for 45 days on 17 May. In a single day, strikes on the towns of Sur and Sayda and surrounding villages killed 18 people and injured dozens. Casualties were reported in Tayr Diba (9 dead, 7 injured), Deyr Kanun en‑Nehr (3 dead, 3 injured), Mesakin Şaabiyye (1 dead, 5 injured), Düveyr (1 dead), Sadikayn (2 dead), and Sayda town centre (2 dead). Additional air raids hit Haris, Aba, Deyr Zehrani, Arabcul, Kalile, Lusya, Yuhmur and Suhmur later that evening.

The assaults continued amid warnings from Iran’s armed forces and statements from the United States urging restraint. Lebanese officials have reported over 3,700 deaths since the conflict escalated in March, while the Lebanese health ministry and the United Nations monitor the humanitarian impact of the ongoing violations of the cease‑fire.
