Israel's attacks on Lebanon kill over 3,500 as ceasefire stalls

Israeli air and ground strikes on Lebanon have killed 3,558 people and injured 10,870 since the conflict escalated on 2 March, with the death toll rising by 32 in the latest 24‑hour period. The Lebanese Health Ministry reported the figures while the Lebanese government said over one million residents have been displaced.

Despite a temporary ceasefire that began on 17 April and was later extended by 45 days through U.S. mediation, Israel continues targeting southern towns. Recent night attacks hit the Duveyr area of Nebatiye, destroying a building and killing one civilian, while a UAV struck a motorcycle, wounding another. Additional strikes in Sur, Burc Kalavay, Deyr Kifa and around Cebel Amil Hospital caused further casualties.

U.S. officials announced a broader ceasefire agreement requiring Hezbollah to halt attacks and for all forces to withdraw south of the Litani River, but the Israeli military has persisted with operations.
