Israel's Lebanon offensive kills 4,330 and displaces over 1 million

Since 2 March, Israel has conducted intensive air strikes across southern Lebanon. The Lebanese health ministry reports that the death toll has risen to 4,330 and 12,236 people have been wounded. The attacks have forced more than one million Lebanese to flee their homes. A temporary cease‑fire that began on 17 April for ten days was extended by three weeks on 24 April, then again on 17 May to last 45 days. The extensions were brokered by the United States under President Donald Trump, with Iran also taking part in negotiations mediated by Pakistan. On 26 June, Lebanon and Israel signed a "framework agreement" ending the hostilities, following a 14‑point pact announced on 14 June that called for a cessation of the war and resolution of remaining issues through dialogue.
