Israel's Netanyahu cites Turkey threat amid Gaza war tensions

Former Israeli Justice Minister Daniel Friedman said Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's political weakness has allowed former U.S. President Donald Trump to subject both the Israeli leader and the state to an "unprecedented humiliation," adding that the Gaza war has damaged Israel's global image and heightened the risk of sanctions.

Netanyahu, responding to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statements accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza, told his cabinet that Turkey's remarks constitute a "serious threat" and announced that the issue will be taken to the United States, saying, "We take these statements seriously and will bring them to the attention of our American friends." The exchange highlights growing diplomatic friction between Israel and Turkey amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
