ISRO aims to establish Indian space station by 2035

ISRO Chairman V Narayanan announced that India aims to establish its own space station, known as the Bharatiya Antariksha Station, by 2035. The first module for the station has already received approval, with initial installations expected to begin as early as 2027.

Speaking during the third National Space Day celebrations in Ahmedabad, Narayanan highlighted the expansion of India’s space capabilities over the last 64 years. He noted that space-based applications now serve citizens in more than 50 sectors, including telecommunications, disaster warning, Earth observation, and navigation.

In addition to the space station project, Narayanan outlined other major upcoming initiatives, such as the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission. The announcements were made alongside other officials, including Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, to commemorate India’s achievements in space exploration.
