Istanbul arts institutions launch new season with opera and theatre

The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (İDOB) is launching its new season with a performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony on September 19. The upcoming repertoire includes a diverse range of opera, ballet, and modern dance productions staged at the Atatürk Cultural Center and the Süreyya Opera House. Notable ballet programs include ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Giselle’, and ‘Afife’, while modern dance offerings feature ‘Delirium’ and ‘Pinocchio.exe’. Additionally, the Nutcracker ballet is scheduled for an international tour to Teatro Lirico Di Cagliari.

In the theatre sector, the new season opens with the production ‘All of Shakespeare’s Plays’. Performing at the Haşim İşcan Cultural Center State Theatre stage during the first two weeks of October, the play features three actors performing 37 Shakespearean works through an interactive and comedic lens. The production aims to break traditional audience-stage barriers through direct dialogue and immersive scenes.
