Istanbul City Theatres announces 2026-2027 season repertoire

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres has announced its repertoire for the 2026-2027 season under the motto “Hazır mıyız?” (Are we ready?). General Art Director Ayşegül İşsever stated that the new season aims to address contemporary uncertainties, including the climate crisis, migration, war, artificial intelligence, and changing work lives.

New productions for the upcoming season include “Hayalî’nin Hayali”, which explores the stories of Turkish and Greek migrants, and “Köşebaşı”, a play set in 1940s Istanbul. The planned repertoire also features works by Bertolt Brecht, John Osborne, and Ken Ludwig.

In a separate weekly guide for Istanbul, various theatrical performances are scheduled for the week of September 14-20. Notable productions include the farewell tour of “Amadeus” starring Selçuk Yöntem and Tansu Biçer, the political satire “Meçhul Paşa”, and William Shakespeare’s “Othello”.
