Young Turkish Man Dies Electrically While Assisting Accident Victim in Mudanya
On 30 June 2026 a vehicle driven by O. U. (also reported as Onur Uslu) lost control on Çepni Mahallesi road in Mudanya, Bursa, and collided with an electric pole. The impact toppled the pole and a high‑voltage line fell onto the roadway. Furkan Alan, a 26‑year‑old resident who had been married only ten days earlier, stopped his car to help the injured driver. Unaware of the live line, he touched the fallen wire and was electrocuted, dying at the scene. The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. Local authorities opened a criminal and administrative investigation, secured the site, and conducted an autopsy of Alan. Hundreds attended his funeral at Hacı İbrahim Bostancı Mosque and his burial at Hasköy Cemetery, with the community mourning the loss. The incident prompted safety warnings about high‑voltage hazards after traffic accidents.
