Istanbul Gelişim University adopts L2E micro‑competency model for vocational education

Istanbul Gelişim University’s vocational college (İGMYO) has overhauled its curricula to a Learning‑to‑Earning (L2E) framework dubbed “Learn2EarnGelişim.” The new structure introduces micro‑competency modules that draw on the World Economic Forum’s 2026 outlook and cover areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, sustainability, data analytics and emerging technologies. Students who complete the modules receive additional certificates alongside their diplomas, aiming to enhance employability across fields ranging from information technology and aviation to gastronomy, design, logistics and machine technology.

Doç. Dr. Mehmet Soyal, director of İGMYO, said, “Our goal is to graduate individuals ready for the labour market, able to adapt quickly, with documented competencies.” The university positions the initiative as one of Turkey’s most comprehensive micro‑competency programmes at the vocational‑college level.
