Istanbul reshapes Kadıköy bus network, moving stops to Uzunçayır

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality approved a redesign of the Kadıköy Meydanı area under the Kadıköy Meydanı Yayalaştırma Project. Bus platforms at Kadıköy Rıhtım will be removed and 26 IETT bus lines, accounting for 2,461 daily trips, will be shifted to the Uzunçayır platform zone. The change aims to lower traffic density, expand pedestrian space and improve connections to metro, metrobüs, Marmaray and ferry services.

Nine routes are being fully discontinued, while others are shortened, extended to Sabiha Gökçen Airport, or re‑routed through new SM lines serving Sultanbeyli and Sancaktepe districts. The municipality expects the reconfiguration to ease congestion around Kadıköy Square and create a wider pedestrian area for public use.
