Turkey prepares for new academic year amid rising costs and security measures

As the new academic year approaches in Turkey, various regions are implementing measures to manage the transition. Similarly, authorities in Çorum are coordinating security and traffic measures to ensure student safety.

Economic concerns are prominent, with rising costs for school supplies and transportation. In Diyarbakır, the initial cost for a student's basic needs is estimated at 9,480 TL. In major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, school shuttle fees have seen significant increases, with Istanbul's rates rising by 10%, Ankara by 25.49%, and Izmir by 35%. Reports from Şikayetvar indicate discrepancies where some parents are being charged significantly higher rates than official tariffs.

Educational and social issues are also being addressed. The Ministry of National Education has announced a re-assignment schedule for former school administrators. Meanwhile, psychologists are advising parents to help children cope with school-related anxiety rather than attempting to eliminate it entirely. Local municipalities, such as Tuzla, are offering free preschool programs, while others are conducting inspections on stationery prices and product safety.
