Turkey weather forecast: Balkan system brings rain and cooling

A new weather system arriving from the Balkans is expected to bring changes to Turkey's weather patterns. While much of the country has been experiencing temperatures above seasonal norms, the incoming system will introduce cooler air and localized thunderstorms, particularly in northern and central regions.

Specific areas expected to see precipitation include western Thrace, the inner parts of the Western Black Sea, Inner Aegean, and the Lakes Region. The Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts are also forecasted to experience thunderstorms. For the weekend, rainfall is expected to be more limited, primarily affecting the Inner Aegean, Lakes Region, and parts of the Eastern Black Sea and Northeast Anatolia.

In major cities, Istanbul is expected to see partly cloudy skies with some local rainfall, while temperatures will remain around 28-30 degrees Celsius. Ankara will see mostly clear skies over the weekend following brief showers in its northern and western outskirts. İzmir is projected to remain mostly clear with temperatures reaching between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius.
