Istanbul's Beykoz and İzmir's Güzelbahçe Municipalities Clean Streets

In the Beykoz district of Istanbul, the municipal council cleared overgrown weeds and accumulated debris from streets and sidewalks that are formally the responsibility of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB). The action followed numerous resident complaints, with local muhtar Hakan Demirtaş criticizing the İBB's inaction and praising the Beykoz mayor’s team for finally cutting the grass and collecting waste on a 3.5‑km stretch of Çengeldere Avenue.

Meanwhile, in the district of Güzelbahçe near İzmir, Deputy Mayor Ayşe Akın oversaw a coordinated clean‑up operation involving the Department of Public Works and the Parks and Gardens Directorate. Teams removed construction rubble, sewage sludge, garden waste and abandoned household items from streets and public spaces. Akın appealed to residents to refrain from dumping waste illegally and to contact the municipality for proper removal, emphasizing the need for community responsibility to keep the area clean and safe.
