Itajaí experiences real estate boom and new educational investment

The city of Itajaí, located on the northern coast of Santa Catarina, has seen a significant surge in its real estate market. Between January and August 2026, real estate sales in the city reached R$ 3.11 billion, representing a 209.2% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This growth positions Itajaí as a major hub in the Brazilian real estate market, outperforming neighboring cities such as Itapema, Porto Belo, and Balneário Camboriú in sales volume.

Experts attribute this growth to a high demand coupled with limited housing supply. Additionally, the city faces a housing deficit of over 15,000 homes, which continues to drive market interest. As a major port and logistics hub, Itajaí holds the second-largest GDP in the state of Santa Catarina.

In a separate development for the region, Senac has launched a R$ 45 million project to build a new unit in Itajaí. The facility, located in the Fazenda neighborhood, will span over 9,000 square meters and is expected to be completed by 2028. The project aims to expand professional training opportunities, including the introduction of integrated technical high school programs to prepare students for the local labor market.
