Italian academic and cultural awards announced in Calabria and Bologna

The 25th edition of the Mariano Turano Prize has been held at the University of Calabria. The initiative aims to promote entrepreneurship culture in the Calabria region and provide educational and cultural opportunities for students. The event involved several partners, including the Calabria Region, the Municipality of Castrolibero, Confindustria Cosenza, and the ‘Calabresi in America’ Association. The ceremony honored the legacy of entrepreneur Mariano Turano, whose family established the Turano Baking Company in the United States.

Separately, the fourth edition of the Luciano Calanchi and Adriano Turrini Prize for Cooperative Culture has launched. Promoted by Legacoop Bologna, the Ivano Barberini Foundation, and the Unipolis Foundation, the award supports university research regarding the cooperative economy and its principles. The prize is aimed at recent graduates and doctoral students across Italian universities, with a total prize pool of 23,000 euros divided into categories for master's theses, doctoral theses, and comparative studies involving international stays. Applications are due by November 8, 2026.
