Italian agricultural groups seek regional aid for climate risks
Agricultural organizations in Italy are seeking and receiving regional support to mitigate the financial impact of climate change on farming operations.
In Piedmont, Confagricoltura has proposed an increase of 1.2 million euros to regional resources for management loans. The proposal aims to boost the current 1.85 million euro program to 3.05 million euros, distributing additional funds equally between individual agricultural businesses and cooperatives to help them manage risks associated with changing weather patterns.
In Lazio, Coldiretti Lazio has welcomed a regional contribution designed to reduce the cost of insurance premiums for agricultural producers. This measure aims to make crop insurance more accessible, helping farmers protect their income against increasing risks such as heatwaves, droughts, and violent storms.
