Italian agriturismo seized over 50 illegal building violations

Italian financial police (Guardia di Finanza) carried out a preventive seizure of Tenuta L’incanto, an agriturismo in Vico Equense, after investigators uncovered more than fifty building violations spanning decades. The illegal works transformed the property from a modest farmstead into a large hospitality venue with a capacity of over 300 seats and an estimated value of around €2 million, breaching zoning rules and creating a significant urban load on roads, parking, water, sewage and energy infrastructure.

The case highlights a broader concern in Italy about the rapid demolition of historic buildings and unchecked urban development. While the Vico Equense seizure is a concrete enforcement action, it reflects ongoing tensions between heritage preservation and aggressive construction practices that have been criticized for erasing cultural memory and overburdening local services.
