Italian Alpine Rescue Saves Hikers in Abruzzo and Retrieves Alpinists in Val di Fassa

On 14 June 2026 the Corpo Nazionale Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico (CNSAS) in Abruzzo carried out two simultaneous rescue operations. In Val di Teve four hikers and their dog were stranded without phone coverage; an Aquila helicopter with a rescue technician and medical crew located them, and ground teams extracted them safely. Around the same time three hikers became trapped in the Gole del Salinello after slipping at the Caccamo waterfall; alpine‑rescue technicians used rope techniques to secure and bring them down, with no injuries reported.

Later that day in Val di Fassa three alpinists (one man and two women from Padova) were halted on the Kasnapoff route near the Second Tower of the Sella, about 50 m from the exit. Emergency services activated the 112 number; a helicopter equipped with a winch and alpine‑rescue staff lifted the climbers and transferred them to Canazei. All three were unharmed and required no hospital treatment.
