Italian alpine rescue teams free stranded hikers in Abruzzo and Veneto

Two separate alpine rescue operations were carried out in Italy on 14‑15 June 2026. In the Abruzzo region, the Corpo Nazionale Soccorso Alpino and Speleologico deployed an Aquila‑based helicopter and ground teams to locate four hikers and their dog who were trapped near a rocky jump in Val di Teve and later to assist three hikers stuck in the Gole del Salinello after a fall from the Caccamo waterfall. All participants were rescued without injury and escorted to safety.

In the Veneto region, two young hikers from Rosà became trapped on an exposed rock ledge while attempting a ferrata on the Grappa massif. The Treviso rescue centre activated both ground crews and a helicopter, which lowered a rescuer to secure the pair and extract them with a winch. The hikers were also brought to safety without physical harm.
