Italian animal shelters launch summer welfare and fundraising initiatives

Animal shelters in Italy are implementing various initiatives to combat summer abandonment and support resident animals.

The Lilli e il Vagabondo municipal shelter in Parma continues its operations throughout the summer, currently housing 90 dogs and 120 cats. The facility focuses on veterinary care, animal welfare, and promoting responsible adoptions to help animals find permanent homes. The shelter also relies on volunteers to assist with socialization and daily care.

In Varese, the Canile di Varese – LNDC Animal Protection has launched the #MusoInVacanza fundraising campaign. For a donation starting at 13 euros, supporters receive a digital postcard of a shelter dog to share on social media during their summer travels. This initiative aims to maintain community awareness regarding animal abandonment while providing necessary funds for the daily care and feeding of the animals.
