Italian authorities seize 162 properties in Teverola over €30 million illegal lotting scheme

Carabinieri from the Aversa company carried out a preventive seizure of 162 residential and commercial units in the Madama Vincenza area of Teverola, province of Caserta. The assets, valued at around €30 million, include completed apartments, villas and construction sites still in progress.

The operation is part of a coordinated investigation by the Naples‑North public prosecutor’s office into an alleged large‑scale illegal lotting scheme. Investigators say a single parcel of land was fractionated into dozens of cadastral units and sold to multiple building firms and private buyers, bypassing zoning, environmental and building‑code regulations. Several local professionals and entrepreneurs have been identified as primary suspects. The seizure is a precautionary measure taken during the preliminary investigation; the accused remain presumed innocent and may appeal the decree.

Authorities emphasized that the measure aims to freeze the alleged profits and prevent further illegal construction while the judicial process continues.
