Italy: Major anti-mafia asset seizures in Brindisi and Vibo Valentia
Italian authorities have executed significant anti-mafia operations targeting criminal assets in Puglia and Calabria. In Brindisi, the Lecce Court ordered the seizure of approximately 600,000 euros in assets belonging to Tobia Parisi, a high-ranking member of the Sacra Corona Unita. The seized property includes a bar used for illegal betting, a car dealership, luxury real estate, and a villa in Torre Santa Susanna previously used to hide boss Daniele Vicientino during his period as a fugitive.
In Vibo Valentia, the Guardia di Finanza seized assets valued at approximately 4 million euros linked to an individual accused of mafia association and international drug trafficking within the Mancuso clan. The seizure includes four properties, 18,000 square meters of land, and a floriculture company.
Additionally, judicial measures have impacted local administration in Calabria. Flavio Stasi, the mayor of Corigliano-Rossano, was placed under house arrest as part of a broader investigation into alleged electoral agreements involving illegal hiring practices. The investigation, coordinated by the Catanzaro District Anti-Mafia Directorate, has resulted in 41 precautionary measures.
