Italian authorities suspend licenses for bars following criminal activity
Italian authorities have ordered the temporary closure of two different establishments following incidents involving criminal activity and public safety concerns.
In Aci Sant’Antonio, Carabinieri officials ordered a seven-day suspension of a central bar. Investigations revealed the venue was a frequent gathering point for individuals with criminal records, including those involved in drug trafficking, evasion, usury, theft, robbery, and mafia-related offenses. The measure was taken under Article 100 of the Consolidated Law on Public Safety (TULPS) to protect public order.
In Rome, the Questore has ordered a 15-day license suspension for a bar in the Casilina area following a violent brawl involving weapons. Police reports indicate a fight broke out inside the premises, involving an attempted stabbing. Despite previous suspensions and changes in ownership, the establishment remained a focal point for law enforcement intervention. During the investigation, an individual acting as a manager was identified who was already subject to a ban on accessing public establishments during nighttime hours.
