Italian beach concessionaires seek extensions and quality-based tenders
Beach operators and regional authorities in Italy are working to secure extensions for maritime concessions and influence the upcoming tender processes. In Comacchio, the Cna association is advocating for tender requirements based on quality rather than just price increases to protect local entrepreneurs who have invested in their businesses.
In the Marche region, authorities are collaborating with 23 coastal municipalities to map beaches. The goal is to demonstrate a “non-scarcity of the resource” by identifying unassigned beach areas, which could potentially delay the mandatory tender deadlines from 2027 to 2028, following a model used in Calabria.
