Italian Carabinieri officers Bonifacio and Marcis retire after 40+ years of service

Lieutenant (Luogotenente) Vincenzo Bonifacio, a Carabinieri special‑rank officer, enlisted on 28 February 1987 and concluded a career of almost forty years on 1 May 2026. In his final years he commanded the Operational and Radio‑Mobile Unit and served as deputy commander of his local company. He earned a degree in Administrative Sciences, held the honorary post of Vice Prosecutor, and received numerous decorations, including the Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, the Maurizian Medal for ten‑year service, the Gold Cross for seniority, a Medal of Merit for long command, and a Covid‑19 Merit Ribbon.

Brigadier (Brigadiere) Luigi Marcis, originally from Sardinia, joined the Carabinieri in 1985 and completed 42 years of service. His last posting was at the provincial command in Via Rismondo. Marcis retired on 13 May 2026, ending a distinguished career that began with his first training course in the mid‑1980s.
