Italian Carabinieri Officers Retire after Decades of Service

Lieutenant Gioacchino Schiera retired from the Carabinieri after 43 years of service. Beginning his career in 1983, he served in stations across Italy—including Cagliari, Naples, and Tuscany—before his final posting in Cascina. He received the Gold Cross with Tower for seniority and the Medal for Long Service, and was honored by Colonel Ivan Boracchia and local troops during his farewell ceremony.

Lieutenant Carica Speciale Beniamino Cocozza also left active duty after 42 years. Enlisting in 1984, his assignments spanned Livorno, Turin, Brescia, Salerno, and Isernia, where he led the local Carabinieri station and provincial operational center. His decorations include the Gold Cross with star, the Medal of Long Command, a veteran of defence badge, and a COVID‑19 merit ribbon. A ceremony at the “Il Monsignore” restaurant in Venafro marked his retirement, attended by family, civilian and military authorities.
