Italian cardiology meetings highlight prevention, youth innovation and women's heart health

The TMC1 Top Meeting Cardiology gathered cardiologists and young physicians in Irpinia for a two‑day scientific forum focused on cardiovascular disease, especially heart‑attack prevention, treatment advances and technological innovation. Organizer Michele Capasso noted, “Il bilancio della prima giornata è stato eccezionale, soprattutto per la presenza dei giovani,” underscoring strong youth participation. The event also featured the second edition of the Marco Mirra Prize, awarded to emerging Italian cardiology talent for innovative projects.

On 15 May, the FIDAPA BPW of Canosa di Puglia hosted a conference on gender cardiology, emphasizing that cardiovascular disease is largely preventable in women. Dr Luigia Bucci, medical director of the cardio‑respiratory rehabilitation unit, highlighted that “Le malattie cardiovascolari sono in gran parte prevenibili” and presented a ten‑point lifestyle guide for women’s heart health. The forum stressed early detection, risk‑factor management and the need for regular medical checks, aiming to improve awareness and outcomes for female patients.
