Italian centre-left factions debate coalition strategy

Former Carroccio leader Castelli said a split within the centre‑left is inevitable and suggested that Economy Minister Giorgetti should become the leader of the northern faction.

In Ancona, centre‑left activist Fabio Sturani called for greater courage and a new reformist agenda, criticizing the absence of Altra Idea from recent progressive meetings and urging a direct dialogue between the Democratic Party and Altra Idea to build a unified program for the city.

Both statements reflect growing tensions and calls for unity within Italy's centre‑left ahead of upcoming local elections.
