Italian centre-left parties weigh postponing Padova protest amid electoral law vote

On July 9, leaders of Italy's Democratic Party (PD), Five Star Movement (M5S) and Green‑Autonomy Alliance (AVS) discussed delaying their second joint demonstration slated for July 15 in Padova. The protest coincides with a parliamentary session in which the Chamber of Deputies will vote on a new electoral law, creating a scheduling conflict that could force the party leaders to leave the chamber during the vote.

If the leaders skip the session, the centre‑right coalition could approve the law without opposition. Options under consideration include keeping the original date, shifting the rally to the evening of July 17, or postponing it by a few days, though the latter is deemed unpopular for superstitious reasons.
