Modena Hospital receives donated human‑milk pasteurizer

On 17 June, the Neonatology department of the Policlinico di Modena was presented with a new pasteuriser for treating donated human milk. The equipment, costing €21,350, was funded by a €15,240 donation from Finedis Srl – the family of Antonio Panini – and a €6,110 contribution from the Associazione Pollicino. The gift was made in memory of Andrea Parenti, the former commercial manager of Modena Volley.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Cosimo Palazzo, administrative director of the Modena university hospital, Prof Alberto Berardi, director of Neonatology, nursing coordinator Federica Cipolle, the city’s health deputy mayor Francesca Maletti and representatives of the Panini family and the Pollicino association. Dr Palazzo highlighted the collaboration between citizens, associations and institutions, while Prof Berardi stressed that the pasteuriser will ensure maximum microbiological safety while preserving the nutritional quality of human milk for preterm and intensive‑care infants.
