Art and science exhibitions launch across Italy and Latvia

Various cultural institutions and museums across Italy and internationally are hosting diverse art and science exhibitions.

In Latvia, the Rothko Museum is presenting ‘Chromatic Abstraction 1934 – 1992’, a retrospective of Italian sculptor Umberto Mastroianni. The exhibition explores his use of materials like bronze, paper, and fabric to create dynamic structures. Meanwhile, in Todi, the ‘Alicja Kwade. ParaPosition’ exhibition features monumental steel and stone installations in Piazza del Popolo, alongside works in the Sala delle Pietre.

Educational initiatives are expanding at the Musei di Palazzo dei Pio in Carpi, which has launched nine immersive paths for students. A highlight is the ‘Le acque del Caos e l’ordine di Maat’ exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Museo Egizio di Torino. In Turin, the MAcA – Environmental Museum has extended its ‘Impronte’ photography exhibition by James Balog, which uses imagery and film to document environmental changes and the relationship between humans and nature.

Other regional highlights include the ‘Intrecci’ contemporary art project in Salve, which utilizes urban regeneration to host various installations, and the ‘Marmott’ site-specific installation by Laurent Le Deunff at the MuST in Spoleto. Additionally, Carrara’s Palazzo Cucchiari is hosting ‘Le Signore dell’arte’, an exhibition focusing on the contributions of female artists in Italian modern art between the 19th and 20th centuries.
