Italian cities Modena and Florence expand electric vehicle charging networks

Italian cities Modena and Florence are expanding their electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructures through new agreements and technological upgrades.

In Modena, the municipal government has approved a memorandum of understanding with T-Carica srl. The company intends to install 10 new public charging stations across the city and its districts over the next three years at its own expense. This initiative follows previous agreements with several other operators, including Enel X, Hera, and Be Charge, as part of a long-term strategy to promote sustainable mobility and reduce emissions.

In Florence, the city council has approved the installation of 14 new electric charging points, powered by renewable energy. These units will be distributed across various areas, ranging from the historic center to outer neighborhoods. Managed by Plenitude On The Road Srl (formerly Be Charge) via a tender from the Consorzio Toscano dell’energia, the project includes both new installations and the replacement of older technology to better accommodate modern electric cars. This expansion aims to bring the city's total network to 250 next-generation charging points.
