Italian cities roll out training and work programs for people with disabilities

The municipality of Catania signed a two‑year protocol to run gardening workshops for asylum‑seeker beneficiaries of the SAI (Sistema Accoglienza e Integrazione) project and unaccompanied foreign minors. The agreement, signed by Mayor Enrico Trantino and local officials, is funded by the national asylum‑integration fund of the Interior Ministry and will take place in city parks and nursery‑school green spaces.

The Fondazione Valenzi announced a free, blended‑learning programme called “More blended” that offers digital‑skill courses – from basic productivity to AI and software development – to people with disabilities across Italy, with optional internships at partner companies.

In Cosenza, the “Lavoro in Vista” project created four paid internships for visually impaired participants. Backed by the Calabria region, the Ministry of Labour and the Fondo per le Non Autosufficienze, the scheme provided tailored training in journalism, social design and administrative work, in partnership with S.A.M., the Italian Union of the Blind and the cooperative SocialNet.
