Italian Coast Guard teams with local municipalities to boost beach safety and marine conservation

At the Mannena beach in Arzachena, Sardinia, the Italian Coast Guard held an educational session for children from the local summer centre. Coast Guard personnel demonstrated safe swimming practices, rescue techniques, the use of a rescue boat and a canine unit, and emphasized the importance of protecting the marine environment. Captain Vittorio Vanacore, commander of the La Maddalena Port Authority, highlighted the goal of instilling a culture of respect for the sea and coastal ecosystems.

In Campobello di Mazara, Sicily, Coast Guard commander Stefano Luciani met with Mayor Daniele Vito Mangiaracina to discuss coastal management. The dialogue focused on dune preservation, protection of nesting sites of the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta), enforcement of bathing safety regulations and cooperation with citizens and environmental groups to ensure sustainable use of the shoreline during the peak summer season.
