Italian coastal towns enforce beach safety measures

Police in the Ponente coastal area fined a group of youths for diving off rocks despite repeated warnings from lifeguards. The teenagers, some from an inland reception centre, had previously ignored orders to stop playing football on the beach and continued to jump from the cliffs, prompting authorities to cite violations of beach‑safety regulations and remove the group.

The municipality of Bosa has activated a sea‑rescue service that will keep lifeguards on duty on Turas beach until 31 August. The service, run by the cooperative 2000 Lune, follows regional rules that require a minimum safety presence during the peak summer weeks to protect residents and tourists.

Both actions reflect heightened enforcement of coastal safety rules in Italy during the busy holiday season.
