Italian coastal towns host mussel festivals in July
Marina di Ravenna in the province of Ravenna is celebrating the "Cozza Selvaggia" festival from July 12 to July 19. The event, organized by local cooperatives and the municipality, features six days of seafood stands, cultural activities, a photography contest, and a climate‑change themed conference. Visitors can sample dishes made from wild mussels and watch marine‑turtle releases.
From July 10 to July 12, Castro Marina in Salento is holding its third edition of the "Festa della Cozza Castrense". The three‑day celebration highlights locally‑grown mussels, expands food offerings, adds a children’s area, and includes live music. Organisers emphasize sustainability, short‑chain production and the event’s role in promoting tourism and regional identity.
