Italian coastal towns launch July 2026 marine festivals
The association Malarupta is organizing the 16th edition of the Festa della Tratta in Marotta from Friday July 17 to Sunday July 19, 2026. The program includes artisan markets, food stalls, historic re‑enactments of the traditional fishing “tratta” at sunset and at dawn, and concerts featuring Italian rock tributes and 1990s music. Additional “Tratta al alba” performances are scheduled for July 26, August 2 and early August, together with the Approdi Letterari literary evenings.
Meanwhile, the Thàlassa – Storie dal Mare Festival continues across Calabria. A marine‑biology seminar on July 4 at Casa della cultura in Pizzo will explain coastal dynamics, biodiversity and sustainable tourism. The cultural programme includes a theatrical‑musical show “Nòstos. Sonu ca ‘ncanta” at the Tonnara Museum in Vibo Valentia on July 17 and a performance at the Murat Castle in Pizzo on July 21, highlighting local identity and the sea as a source of heritage.
