Italian communities celebrate local centenarians
Local communities in Italy are celebrating significant longevity milestones among their residents. In Grottammare, Mayor Alessandro Rocchi recently visited a resident celebrating her 101st birthday. The town is seeing a growing number of centenarians, currently dominated by women, including a 105-year-old resident. However, demographic trends in the area suggest a shift, with two men expected to reach the age of 100 by the end of 2026.
In Basiglio, Mayor Lidia Reale and Councilor Betty Negri Marchei visited Edda Torti to honor her 100th birthday. Ms. Torti, a resident of Basiglio for 40 years, was presented with flowers and a commemorative parchment by the municipal administration to recognize her extraordinary life milestone.
