Italian communities hold walks to promote breast cancer prevention

Community events in Italy are raising awareness for breast cancer prevention through organized walks. In Corato, the first ‘Walk for the Cure’ saw 850 participants, including members of the Pink Girls team. The event raised €8,500 for Komen Italia – Puglia Regional Committee to support local free projects for women.

In Grottaglie, over 800 people have registered for the ‘Passeggiata Rosa’ organized by the association ‘AAA Cercasi Tette’. Founded by women who have personally experienced breast cancer, the group uses irony to break social taboos surrounding the disease. Proceeds from the event will be reinvested locally to fund free gynecological screenings and informational meetings.
