Italian community initiatives support Alzheimer's awareness and care

Community initiatives in Italy are providing ongoing support for individuals living with Alzheimer's and dementia. In Piove di Sacco, the Alzheimer Piove di Sacco odv association maintains its relief center even during the summer months to assist families facing the challenges of the disease. Led by President Giusy Molena, the center serves approximately 50 people with the help of 20 volunteers and professional staff from Ulss 6 Euganea. To meet local demand, the association self-finances an additional day of weekly operations beyond what is covered by health authority funding.

In Gavirate, the Alzheimer Fest is incorporating sporting activities to raise awareness. The association Ciclovarese has organized a cycling rally to support Progetto Rughe odv, the promoter of the Alzheimer Fest. Scheduled for September 6, the event includes a cycling gathering at the Gavirate lakeside and a visit to ‘Il Borgo della Memoria,’ which will feature historical cycling photography. These efforts aim to combine physical activity with community engagement to support dementia awareness.
