Italian community volunteerism expands in Novi Ligure and Legnano

In Novi Ligure, the municipal government has updated its Register of Volunteering for 2026, now including 56 associations and organizations. This update, approved by administrative official Marco Travasino, expands the previous list of 40 entities by adding 16 new registrations. The organizations cover diverse sectors, including social services, culture, environmental protection, education, and sports.

In Legnano, the intergenerational initiative ‘Estate gentile’ (Gentle Summer) concluded its 22nd edition. Organized by Auser Ticino Olona, the project paired 30 young student volunteers with over 80 elderly residents to provide companionship and practical assistance. Volunteers helped with tasks such as grocery shopping, collecting medications, and accompanying seniors to medical appointments or banks. The program also served to identify structural issues in seniors' homes, such as a lack of air conditioning or elevators, to alert relevant institutions.
