Italian Consul Visits Detained Activists in Benghazi

Italian Consul General Filippo Colombo in Benghazi conducted a first visit to two Italian activists detained by the eastern Libyan police. The detainees are 67‑year‑old former teacher Dina Alberizia and 33‑year‑old Domenico Centrone from Bari.

Colombo reported that both were in good health and requested the authorities improve detention conditions, including access to showers, regular clothing changes, and better accommodation. Libyan officials agreed to these measures. The consulate has not received information on any possible expulsion, which is delayed by the ongoing Islamic holiday.
