Italian cultural sector workers set nationwide strike for June 12
The national trade union federation Fp Cgil announced a nationwide strike of cultural sector employees for Friday, 12 June. The action targets workers in the central functions of the Ministry of Culture, the Federculture network and precarious staff represented by Nidil Cgil. A rally is planned in Ravenna’s Piazza del Popolo from 10:00 to 12:00, and the union has asked the prefect for a meeting to present its demands.
Union representatives say the sector suffers from “precarious contracts, low wages and often improper contracts,” highlighting the need for more resources, stable employment, decent salaries and fair remuneration for autonomous cultural workers. They also criticize the systematic use of public contracts and concessions that create a split between “Series A and Series B” workers under vastly different legal and economic conditions.
