Italian Eccellenza leagues face club exclusions and race for vacant spots

In Sicily, the 2026/27 Eccellenza season opened with two historic clubs excluded. Città di Acireale failed to complete its registration after a move to Viagrande, while Paternò chose not to apply at all, leaving two vacancies. The regional committee will fill them through repechage, with Jonica leading the list and other hopefuls such as Gymnica Scordia, Aragona and Cus Palermo awaiting a decision.

In Molise, the registration deadline for Eccellenza and Promozione also approaches, with a vacancy left by Ripalimosani. Potential repechage candidates include Lokomotiv Riccia and Atletico San Pietro in Valle, with priority given to Riccia should both submit applications.
