Italian environmental projects win PIMBY Green awards in Milan

The national PIMBY Green 2026 awards ceremony was held at Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan, organized by Assoambiente. The Province of Caserta received the prize for its "Maruzzella – Caserta Landfill Mining" project, which uses landfill mining to remediate former waste sites, recover materials and provide a circular‑economy model for waste management. Province President Anacleto Colombiano accepted the award on behalf of the project team.

The Consorzio Ponte Rosso‑Tagliamento was also honoured for the APEA project, which integrates digital monitoring tools to involve local enterprises and stakeholders in sustainable industrial development. General Director Daniele Gerolin collected the award, presented by Assoambiente president Chicco Testa. Both projects were praised for demonstrating how environmental innovation can coexist with economic activity, aligning with the award’s aim to promote "Please In My Back Yard" initiatives that oppose NIMBY attitudes.

The recognitions highlight Italy’s growing emphasis on circular‑economy practices and the use of advanced technology to monitor environmental performance, setting examples for other regions and sectors.
