Italian Episcopal Conference allocates 500,000 euros for global humanitarian aid

The Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) has allocated 500,000 euros from the '8xmille' funds to address urgent humanitarian emergencies in Colombia, Peru, Indonesia, and Nepal. The funds will be distributed through Caritas Italiana and local Caritas networks to support community recovery.

In Indonesia, the aid targets the aftermath of a 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Flores island that caused over 100 deaths, 1,600 injuries, and displaced 180,000 people. Specific attention will be given to people with disabilities, providing access to healthcare, rehabilitation, and psychosocial support.

In Nepal, assistance will focus on the Rasuwa district following a violent event on August 26 that left thousands homeless. The response includes immediate aid, shelter, food, and support for restoring productive activities.
