Pope Leo XIV schedules apostolic visits to France, Uruguay, and Argentina
Pope Leo XIV is preparing for a series of major apostolic visits across Europe and South America. In France, scheduled for September 25 to 28, the Pope will visit Paris, Lourdes, and Metz. The itinerary includes a meeting with President Emmanuel Macron, a prayer service for youth at the Stade de France, and a visit to UNESCO. In Lourdes, he will participate in traditional processions and meet with victims of sexual violence. To mark his arrival, church bells across France will ring for seven minutes on September 25.
In Uruguay, the Pope is set to visit from November 6 to 8. Ahead of this trip, Uruguayan bishops met with the Pontiff in Rome to discuss challenges in a highly secularized society, including issues of family, education, and social violence. The bishops presented him with a collective document containing messages and drawings from Uruguayan citizens.
In Argentina, the Pope will visit from November 8 to 11, traveling to Buenos Aires, Luján, and Córdoba. The Argentine Episcopal Conference has already opened volunteer registrations for the event. Additionally, labor leaders from the CGT recently met with the Pope in the Vatican to discuss social concerns such as employment and retirement.
