Italian finance police seize 1,000 L of illegal agricultural diesel in Palagonia

The Guardia di Finanza in Catania province raided a warehouse in the centre of Palagonia, Sicily, after spotting suspicious vehicle traffic. Investigators found an unlicensed fuel outlet that was selling diesel classified for agricultural use to private motorists.

Around 1,000 liters of the subsidised diesel, an autobotte, two storage tanks and the dispensing equipment were confiscated. Three individuals were identified and reported to the judicial authorities for the offence of “subtraction from assessment or payment of excise duty” under the Italian Tax Code. The operation highlights the force’s efforts to combat fuel fraud and protect both market integrity and road‑safety.
