Italian harness racing: Irold and Gill Dorial secure major victories

Recent harness racing events in Italy featured significant victories and tributes. At the Ippodromo Snai Sesana in Montecatini Terme, the 24th seasonal trot day was dedicated to Sari Del Rosso. The event included a tribute to the late champion Varenne, with driver Giampaolo Minnucci and owner Enzo Giordano honoring his legacy.

In the main race, the Premio Sari Del Rosso, the three-year-old horse Irold, trained by Manuele Matteini, secured victory. Irold maintained control throughout the race, finishing with an average time of 1.17.9 over 2,040 meters, ahead of Iceland St and Ischia del Ronco. Additionally, Aretha Franklin secured her first career win in the Premio Pacha dei Greppi.

At the Ippodromo del Savio, Gill Dorial won the Gran Premio Città di Cesena. Driven by Marco Stefani and trained by Mauro Baroncini, the four-year-old horse dominated the field to finish with an average time of 1.13.4. The podium was completed by Gloria Italia and Grillo Jet. Other notable winners included Le Chapeau Point in the Premio Giuliano Tartufi and Luxor Ferm in the Premio Padre Danilo Reverberi.
